Defiant Ciraldo plots ‘dangerous’ Galvin role against Broncos image

Canterbury Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo says he’s listening to those he trusts within the ‘four walls’ at Belmore, rather than worry about external noise regarding Lachlan Galvin.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s Round 18 fixture against the Brisbane Broncos at Accor Stadium, Ciraldo confirmed Galvin would once again be encouraged to play his natural game when called upon.

“Internally we all understand what we’re trying to do,” Ciraldo said.

“I have a number of good people around me, I trust their opinions inside our four walls and we’ll continue to do that.”

When asked about criticism of his continued use of Galvin off the Bulldogs bench, Ciraldo was defiant.

“It’s probably the same voices doubting what we’re doing now, who doubted our recruitment strategy, who doubted our forward pack,” he said.

“We’re really comfortable with what we’re doing and how our team is evolving.

“After last week (against Penrith), it was such a quality game, such a benchmark game for the season, I don’t think there needs to be too much negativity.”

Ciraldo was then asked about whether Galvin’s roving style of play could be reined in against the Broncos.

“When he plays like that we ask more questions and that makes us dangerous, we’re encouraging that,” Ciraldo said.

“If you look at the last sequence (against Penrith), Lachy was in all three plays and gave us a chance to win the game.

“We’re not going to take that away from him, we just want our guys to better understand how to play with him.”

The second-placed Bulldogs host the fifth-placed Broncos in Friday Night Football to kick off NRL Round 18, with both sides missing their Origin stars.
