Broncos players plot Cobbo reunion after Dolphins deal image

Selwyn Cobbo recently inked a deal to join the Dolphins for the 2026 season.

Less than seven weeks later, his current Broncos teammates are already angling for a reunion with the former Maroons outside back.

"You’d love to keep everyone together and that’s just the way it works these days with the salary cap and that’s what it’s there for," Broncos playmaker Billy Walters told News Corp.

"Unfortunately Selwyn was squeezed out but you never say never in this game.

"People come back to clubs all the time. We probably never would have thought Ben Hunt would come back to the Broncos after he left, but he’s here now playing again in the No. 7 jumper this week.

"Selwyn has only signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins so I’d love to see him back here one day. Who knows what’s around the corner?"

Why did Selwyn Cobbo leave the Broncos?

The 23-year-old agreed to join Brisbane's cross-town rival after an agreement couldn't be reached to extend his stay in Red Hill.

Cobbo was seemingly on the outer with new head coach Michael Magurie, who had dropped him back to Queensland Cup and only used him sparingly when injuries or Origin selection presented an opportunity.

Interestingly, Cobbo himself hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to the Broncos after his one-year stint in Redcliffe.

"I will do one year at the Dolphins and who knows what happens, I could be back here in a couple of years. Right now, I just want to stay in this jersey and play consistent footy," he told AAP after his side's emphatic victory over the Rabbitohs in Round 22.

For now, Cobbo will be focused on rehabilitating a hamstring injury that he suffered in Round 23 against the Storm which is set to sideline him for at least six-weeks.
