Castleford Tigers have made a move to sign Canterbury Bulldogs fullback Blake Taaffe for the 2026 Super League season, according to Love Rugby League.
The 26-year-old is off-contract at the end of this year, and with no fresh deal on the table from Canterbury, the Tigers have acted quickly to try and secure his signature.
Sources in Australia have told the outlet that Castleford have already put forward an offer, with the goal-kicking utility now looking increasingly likely to cross hemispheres at the end of the campaign.
Part of a major Tigers overhaul
Taaffe began his NRL career at South Sydney, debuting in 2021 and making 28 appearances for the Rabbitohs before switching to Canterbury in 2024. Last season he featured nine times for the Bulldogs, including their play-off defeat to Manly, and covered roles at fullback, half-back, and off the bench.
This year has seen him limited to just four first-grade appearances, but his form in the New South Wales Cup has reportedly caught the eye.
If the move goes ahead, Taaffe would join a raft of new faces in what is shaping up to be a drastically different Castleford squad under a new head coach in 2026.
The Tigers have already signed Brock Greacen from Newcastle Knights, Jack Ashworth from Hull FC, and Renouf Atoni from Wakefield, while Liam Hood is also expected to arrive from Trinity. Strengthening the backline is now the priority, and Taaffe’s versatility could prove a key asset in their revamped spine.
