Smashing the Bath half-marathon course record was the easy part for Kenyan runner Robert Mbithi.

Crossing the finish line was a much bigger challenge for the 26-year-old, somehow managing to get tangled in the banner's textbook around-the-legs tackle.

While Mbithi was unhurt and took the stack well, it surely must have bruised his ego.

Think about it; he beat out 12,700 other runners, shaved 16 seconds off the previous mark and yet his newfound fame is down to failing to negotiate a flimsy banner.

Ouch.
