Campbell collected a silver medal with the Australian 4x100m medley relay team on the final night in the pool, but revealed after missing a medal in the 50m freesyle that the demons from her surprising performance on Thursday remained.
"The world got to witness possibly the greatest choke in Olympic history a couple of nights ago," Campbell told Channel Seven.
However, the 24-year-old hinted that there may have been further reasons behind her struggling performance.
"I am not here to make excuses. Everyone has setbacks. I am not going to put anything in print yet," Campbell said.
