The Alabama defense may have lost a huge weapon in its game against Ole Miss on Saturday.

Senior defensive end Da'Shawn Hand went down with a left leg injury against the Rebels in the third quarter and had to be helped off the field. He couldn't put any weight on his leg, and eventually was carted off the field by Alabama trainers.

Hand is one of the Tide's veteran playmakers on defense, and his absence would be sorely missed if he were to miss significant time. He only had five tackles entering Saturday's game, but has been instrumental in creating pressure and holding down the defensive line. He had a sack in the game against Ole Miss.

After the game, Alabama coach Nick Saban said Hand likely suffered an MCL sprain. His status will be updated on Sunday.
