It didn't take long for the first-round Stanley Cup playoff series between the Canadiens and Senators to turn sour.

Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban was given a game misconduct penalty for slashing the Senators' Mark Stone during the second period of Game 1.

Subban took a hack at Stone's wrist and Stone fell to the ice writhing in pain. The call drew the Canadiens' ire and set off a social media storm. The slash appeared to be a run-of-the mill penalty, not exactly severe enough for a game misconduct.
