Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested by police in Montgomery County (TX) following a violent incident at his home on Thursday, per the Houston Chronicle.
Ward is now facing a felony assault family violence charge and is being held at Montgomery County Jail without bond. The Texans also released a statement on the incident.
Ward, 33, signed with Houston in 2023 and has been in the NFL since 2014 when he was drafted by the 49ers in the first round.

Jimmie Ward arrested, facing felony assault family violence charge
According to the Houston Chronicle, Ward was accused of choking someone at his home in Magnolia early on Thursday morning. He was arrested around 5:30 a.m. and is now being held without bond.
Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to Ward's home and met with the anonymous complainant, who alleged that she was "assaulted, choked, and threatened" by the Texans safety, per the Houston Chronicle. The complainant also requested an emergency protective order to be filed.

"We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward," team representatives told the Houston Chronicle. "We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."
Ward is currently under contract with Houston through the 2025 season after signing with the team as a free agent in 2023. He totaled 48 tackles and two interceptions for the Texans in 2024 before a foot injury ended his season in December. As he's recovered from the injury, Ward has yet to participate in any offseason workouts for the Texans.
