Fast5 Netball World Series: Australian squad, schedule, tickets and how to watch image

Netball's Fast5 World Series is set to return to Melbourne this October with Australia campaigning for its first series title.

Deemed as netball's take of the Big Bash League and ALFX, Fast5 evidently features five players, shorter quarters and a modified points system.

This year's series will be Australia's last chance of winning the event on home soil, with New Zealand taking out the title in 2016, followed by England in 2017.

The Fast5 Series features the world’s best netball powerhouses, including Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, Malawi and South Africa.

Each nation will play six twenty-four minute games across the two-day event.

The 2018 Fast5 Netball World Series will be hosted at Hisense Arena in Melbourne, from October 27-28.

NETBALL FAST5 RULES

It's netball. Just a lot faster.

In Fast5 there’s only five playing positions, with two shooters (GS and GA), two defenders (GK and GD) and one midcourter (C).

The games are short and sharp with just four six minute quarters. Each team choses a 'Power Play' quarter where all goal points scored are doubled.

All centre passes are taken by the team who didn't score the previous goal. A coin toss at the start of the game determines who takes the first centre in each quarter. The winner of the toss takes the centre pass in the first and third quarters, while the loser takes the second and fourth quarters.

The modified ruleset also includes rolling substitutions, which means that players can interchange at any time during play.

There are three different scoring zones in Fast5 made up of an inner and outer circle, and the goal third. Goals scored in the inner circle are worth one point, the outer circle 2 points, and super shots made outside the goal circle are worth three points.
