Tyrese Proctor is heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 21-year-old Sydney native was selected with the No. 49 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, following three seasons playing college basketball at Duke.
The Cavs did not have a first-round selection in this year's draft after trading it in the deal to acquire Donovan Mitchell in 2022. They entered this year's draft with two second-round picks — 49 and 58.

Proctor adds playmaking and scoring to Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have some big decisions to make in the off-season, with the second apron likely to impact their roster construction, with guards Sam Merrell and Ty Jerome both hitting unrestricted free agency.
Adding Proctor to the roster gives the Cavaliers a mix of playmaking and long-range shooting that could well replace some of that production.
Proctor is coming off a solid season with the Blue Devils, who were eliminated in the Final Four by Houston. He averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 45.2 percent shooting and 40.5 percent from the 3-point line on 5.8 attempts per game.
He delivered a standout performance of 25 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the 3-point line in Duke's win over Baylor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, highlighting his ability to play off the ball as well as create his own offense off the dribble.
At 6-foot-5, Proctor has the tools to be a plus defender in the NBA and looks likely to be a part of the Cavs rotation next season.
According to NBA Insider Jake Fischer, Proctor won't be on a two-way deal, instead reported to be signing a multi-year deal with the Cavaliers.
