Zikarsky to learn from star bigs with Timberwolves
Rocco Zikarsky was considered one of the highest upside picks in the draft, at just 18 years old with an incredibly impressive frame.
With Minnesota in win-now mode, Zikarsky's development will come in the form of a two-way, where he will spend equal time between the team and their G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves.
But he will also likely come under the wing of Rudy Gobert, the Minnesota centre and four-time Defensive Player of the Year, whose game stylistically resembles the Australian.
"We're fired up," said Minnesota President Tim Connelly.
"A long term play, but someone who trained locally so has an appreciation for Minnesota, we had a great workout with him and we had him much higher on the board, it's fun to add young players with that energy."
Zikarsky was the second centre taken by the Timberwolves, who also selected Joan Beringer in the first round, but the first Australian off the board.
