The Thunder are in "serious talks" to extend All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook's contract through the 2018-19 season, The Vertical reported Wednesday night.

The team and Westbrook's agent, Thad Foucher, are negotiating a deal worth the maximum $85 million, though no agreement has been finalized, according to the report. The Vertical also reported the pact would likely include a third-year player option.

Under the reported proposed extension, Westbrook's annual salary would jump from $17.8 million to $26.5 million for the 2016-17 season.

He would then make $28.5 million in 2017-18 and $30.6 million in 2018-19.

The Thunder, it appears, are moving to sign Westbrook to an extension as soon as possible after the departure last month of Kevin Durant to the Warriors.
