The New York Knicks entered the season as one of the primary contenders, building upon their success last season by trading for Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges.
They had an impressive regular season, finishing with 51 wins and the third seed in the East.
After a tough first round series win against the Detroit Pistons, the Knicks found themselves matched up against a 61-win Boston side primed to make a title run; but it appears that it is New York who may be within touching distance of the NBA Championship.
Can New York win the NBA Championship?
The Knicks could be on the cusp of breaking a half-century drought, as they look to win their first title since 1973.
Despite dropping Game 5 to a Tatum-less Boston squad, they still hold a comfortable 3-2 lead in the series, and are likely to move on past last year's champions.
They will then meet the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, a rematch of the 2000 series - the last time New York made it that far.
According to bookmaker Sportsbet, the Knicks are not the favourites to make it out of the East - paying $2.20 - while the Pacers lead at $2.10.
If they can make it to the big dance, they're currently priced at $7.00 to win it all, trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder and tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This marks a massive jump for the Jalen Brunson-led squad, who had ballooned out to $23 ahead of their semifinal series against Boston.
NBA 2024-25 Championship odds
Despite the Knicks' late surge, Oklahoma City still remain heavy favourites to claim the title, currently leading the Denver Nuggets 3-2 in their semifinal.
