Compton's Kendrick Lamar grew up watching Los Angeles' Kobe Bryant from just a few miles away, and he wants to pay respect now that Bryant is retiring.
Unlike the rest of us, Lamar is exceptional with words and has a much larger platform to use them. In a video for ESPN, the West Coast rapper paid tribute to one of the NBA's best a few days before he's set to hang them up after 20 seasons of professional basketball.

The fact that it's coming from Lamar is a great honour, considering Bryant's history with rap. Lamar is at the top of the genre right now, he's from California and is the perfect person to deliver these words.
