Josh Giddey is in line for a huge payday, following an impressive debut season for the Chicago Bulls.

The Australian had a rocky start to the year, after being traded during the off-season by the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he came on in a massive way following the All-Star break, propelling the Bulls to a Play-In berth.

But as he enters restricted free agency (RFA), he will be hoping for a significant pay rise from either his current team, or another NBA franchise.

Giddey will likely be one of the most sought-after names this off-season, with his RFA status meaning he is open to receive any offer, but the Bulls will have the ability to match his contract.

According to recent reports, the 22-year-old is seeking a five-year deal which would pay him around US$30 million annually, which would be one of the richest deals for an Australian in NBA history.

"The belief around the league is Bulls restricted free agent guard Josh Giddey hopes to command a similar five-year, $150 million deal to Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs and earn roughly $30 million annually or more," wrote HoopsHype's Michael Scotto

If successful, the deal would carry Giddey through to the 2030 season, where the then-27-year-old would be close to entering his prime, and depending on his play in line for a monster payday, pending the NBA's upcoming salary cap rise.
