Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly set to meet with the franchise's front office next week amid ongoing trade speculation.

According to NBA Insider Chris Haynes, the Bucks reached out to Antetokounmpo to discuss the team's direction moving forward, with the conversation set to be "very, very crucial" in determining their ambition to chase an NBA championship

"I was told the Bucks made contact with Giannis Antetokounmpo early as this morning and sources relayed to me that a meeting is expected to be scheduled for mid next week," Haynes said.

"This is where Giannis is going to have a chance to speak with Bucks brass and talk about the direction of the team."

The Bucks' season ended on a sour note after being eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers in five games.

Adding to their woes, point guard Damian Lillard is set to miss significant time with an Achilles injury he suffered in Game 4, while key role players Brook Lopez and Gary Trent Jr are set to hit unrestricted free agency. Bobby Portis could also do the same if he declines his player option for next season.

With their short-term future under a cloud, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Antetokounmpo was "open-minded" about exploring options outside Milwaukee for the first time in his career.

Since winning the NBA championship in 2021, the Bucks have note made it back to the Conference Finals, being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in each of the past three seasons.

Despite their lack of recent success, Antetokounmpo has remained one of the most devastating two-way players in the league, earning All-NBA First Team honours in 2024-25, along with being an MVP finalist.
