Charles Barkley weighs in on Michael Jordan's return
Charles Barkley has weighed in on Michael Jordan's new role with NBC, claiming that his fellow Dream Team member will not shoulder a heavy load for the network.
Speaking on Barstool Sports’ “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast, Barkley said that he is not sure what Jordan will do at NBC, but he does not expect it to be a significant part of the coverage.
"I have no idea what Michael is going to do," Barkley said
"I don’t think he’s going to do a lot. I know he’s not going to do a lot. I was 100 per cent shocked, but I don’t think he’s going to do a lot. Period."
Jordan will debut his role as a special contributor next season, while Barkley is set to make the move from TNT to ESPN, after the former lost the rights to the NBA at the conclusion of these playoffs.
How much is Michael Jordan's NBC contact worth?
It is not currently known how much Michael Jordan's contract with NBC is worth.
There are reports that the network will be paying the six-time champion as much as US$40 million annually, but that figure has not been confirmed.
In comparison, Fox Sports currently pay seven-time Super Bowl Champion and the widely acknowledged greatest quarterback ever Tom Brady US$37.5 million a year, for a much more in depth media role.
