The Dallas Mavericks will make the first selection in next month's NBA Draft, after they won the all-important Draft Lottery Tuesday.
Three months on from the infamous Luka Dončić trade, the Mavericks will now have the chance to select the new face of their franchises, with the smart money being on Duke star Cooper Flagg.
But not only is Dallas' lottery win unlikely, it was borderline unprecedented, with the Mavericks overcoming the fourth-lowest odds ever to claim top spot.

Dallas Mavericks overcome historic odds to win NBA Draft Lottery
The first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft will be made by the Dallas Mavericks, a stunning twist in what has been a tumultuous season for the Texas-based team.
After making a stunning trade with the Los Angeles Lakers in February which saw them ship off MVP-contender Dončić for Anthony Davis in what was called a 'win-now move', the Mavericks' season quickly deteriorated; a horror run of injuries seeing them tumble down the standings and ultimately lose in the play-in to Memphis.

But their luck just changed in a big way, overcoming the fourth-lowest odds ever to win the NBA Draft lottery, as well as jumping 10 spots to move up to first, an NBA record.
The Mavericks entered the night with just a 1.80% chance to win the Draft Lottery, the fourth-lowest ever trailing only Orlando in 1993 (1.52%), Cleveland in 2014 (1.70%), and Chicago in 2008 (1.70%).
Not only that, but the odds of the top three picks falling in the order that they did - Dallas, San Antonio, Philadelphia - was just 0.0114%.
But despite this, the top pick now belongs to the Dallas Mavericks, with plenty of speculation around just how they will use it next June.
