Will Chicago draft Josh Giddey replacement? Bulls reportedly targeting BYU product with 12th pick image

The Chicago Bulls will make the 12th selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, failing to move further up into the lottery after an up-and-town season.

The team finished 10th in the East, a 39-43 record enough to make a Play-In appearance, where they were blown away by the Miami Heat.

With the draft quickly approaching, the team has some tough decisions to make, with one expert predicting they will use their pick to replace their current point guard.

Bulls reportedly targeting Josh Giddey replacement with 12th pick

Heading into the 2025 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls have a clear set of needs, chief among them being a lack of front-court depth, especially with Nikola Vučević's future with the team uncertain.

But according to The Chicago Sun-Times insider Joe Cowley, the team is reportedly targeting BYU guard Egor Demin, a six-foot-nine point guard and freak passer - the exact same archetype as Josh Giddey.

"The Bulls are zoning in on BYU’s Egor Demin, but they’re not alone," Cowley wrote.

"Demin — a suddenly hot name — could climb into the top 10."

With the Bulls already rostering Giddey, drafting another jumbo pass-first talent in Demin could help the latter grow in his role, but it also could be the team angling away from the young Australian.

Giddey is reportedly seeking a US$150 million deal as a restricted free agent, Chicago could see Demin as a more palatable alternative that still provides a similar skillset, as the team looks to embrace a youthful identity.

There is still a month to go before the Bulls announce their draft pick, but the name they call out could have far-reaching ramifications on the career of the Boomers guard.
