Players’ Champion nominations for 2019 NRL season revealed by RLPA image

The Rugby League Players Association has unveiled a 64-man short list of contenders for the 2019 Players’ Champion award.

Four players from all 16 clubs have been put forward, with teams providing three nominees and the RLPA picking a fourth player from each NRL side.

NRL players will vote for opposition nominees on a 3-2-1 basis.

The winner will be announced at an event in Sydney on October 14.

Kalyn Ponga, the reigning Players’ Champion, is among the four players put forward from the Newcastle Knights.

Dally M medal favourite and 2017 Players’ Champion James Tedesco is also in the running for the 2019 award.

Other notable nominees include: Cameron Smith (Storm), Cameron Munster (Storm), Tom Trbojevic (Sea Eagles), Payne Haas (Broncos), Jason Taumalolo (Cowboys), Damien Cook (Rabbitohs) and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Warriors).

Canberra Raiders: John Bateman, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Jack Wighton, Josh Papalii.

Canterbury Bulldogs: Will Hopoate, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Josh Jackson, Corey Harawira-Naera.

Cronulla Sharks: Chad Townsend, Bronson Xerri, Briton Nikora, Josh Dugan.

Gold Coast Titans: AJ Brimson, Moeaki Fotuaika, Jai Arrow, Brian Kelly.

Manly Sea Eagles: Daly Cherry-Evans, Tom Trbojevic, Addin Fonua-Blake, Jake Trbojevic.
