Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will plead not guilty to a tripping charge stemming from Friday night's NRL qualifying final win over South Sydney.

The Roosters were in fine form at the SCG, smashing the Rabbitohs 30-6 to advance to a preliminary final in two weeks.

Trent Robinson's side will play either the Storm or the winner of Sunday afternoon's Eels-Broncos clash, while Souths will play Manly in next weekend's semi-final.

Waerea-Hargreaves was placed on report for a 71st minute trip on Rabbitohs back James Roberts.

He was hit with a Grade 1 charge and will front the judiciary on Tuesday night.

The Roosters have elected to fight the charge in hopes of having JWH available for their do-or-die prelim final.

If he is found not guilty, he'll be free to play the home game at the SCG.

If he's unsuccessful, he will be suspended for one match.
