Supercars: Scott McLaughlin wins Albert Park finale as Chaz Mostert seals Larry Perkins Trophy image

Scott McLaughlin won his third race of the weekend at Albert Park, but Chaz Mostert took home the Larry Perkins Trophy.

Mostert trailed home McLaughlin to the flag in race 6, but following the Kiwi's non-start in race 5 - which Mostert won - the Supercheap Auto racer ended up with the most points for the weekend.

Prior to Saturday evening's race 5, McLaughlin and Cameron Waters came together on their way to the grid.

However, the 2018 series champ bounced back on Sunday to win the race 6 sprint, which was shortened after a crash for Macauley Jones.

Mostert started from pole, but McLaughlin won the race to turn 1. Eventual third-place finisher Jamie Whincup also got past Mostert, but the Ford pilot muscled past on lap 3 to set after McLaughlin.

One lap later, Jones was sent into the turn 9 fence after contact with Garry Jacobson, and the safety car was deployed.

The field made a tentative restart as McLaughlin and Mostert pulled away, and that's where the front-runners stayed to the chequered flag.

With three podiums - including a win - for the weekend, Mostert ended up with the Larry Perkins Trophy, with Whincup - who took his 200th career podium - his closest challenger.

Tickford duo Cameron Waters and Will Davison rounded out the top five, with Mark Winterbottom, Tim Slade, David Reynolds, Lee Holdsworth and Scott Pye completing the top 10.

Shane van Gisbergen's horror weekend continued - the 2016 series champion started fifth, but fell back through the pack before running Fabian Coulthard wide at turn 13 on the second lap.

Coulthard had to use the escape road and dropped to 22nd before eventually finishing 15th. However, van Gisbergen was handed a 15-second time penalty for the incident and was classified a lowly 22nd.
