UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski reveals intense training regimen image

Alexander Volkanovski is renowned for being one of the most well-conditioned athletes on the UFC roster.

His championship legacy has been built upon several 25-minute fights where he utilises pace and pressure to break his opponents as the fight goes on.

That level of physical conditioning can only be achieved through a strict training routine which involves multiple sessions per day.

Alex Volkanovski's training regimen

In a recent interview with former UFC Champion "Mighty" Demetrious Johnson, Volkanovski explained what his training schedule involves both in an out of fight camp.

"Out of [training] camp I do anywhere from two-to-four sessions a day," he said.

"The days where I’ve got four sessions it’s strength in the morning, straight to our mma session… then you’ve got two sessions in the afternoon.

"In camp I end up just doing the two in the morning. One of those is high-load and then the afternoon’s just technique.

"The intensity goes way higher in camp for less hours."

The 36-year-old created history at UFC 314, by winning back his featherweight title by unanimous decision over Diego Lopes.

He will look to defend that belt in the second half of 2025 against one of the rising contenders at 145lbs.
