Brock Lesnar has been banned from UFC for one year following a doping violation, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced.

However, the suspension will be backdated to July 15, which is six days after Lesnar beat Sydney-based fighter Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

USADA confirmed 39-year-old Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite, 4-hydroxyclomiphene during an out-of-competition urine test on June 28 and an in-competition urine test on July 9 at UFC 200.

Lesnar, who made his name in WWE before switching to mixed martial arts has since returned to professional wrestling.

One of the banned substances, Clomiphene, is an anti-estrogen agent that can indirectly raise natural testosterone levels in the body. It can also counter the side-effects of anabolic steroid use.
