It's not about the money — it's about the boredom.

That might sum up Rays infielder Nick Franklin's offseason job as an Uber driver.

Franklin, 25, who made about $350,000 with the Rays last season, said he made nine or 10 trips around Orlando for Uber during the offseason, a side job he started after the 2015 season.

"I wanted to do something on the weekends because I never really do anything,'' Franklin told the Tampa Bay Times in October.

He apparently had more on his plate this offseason than he expected — his 2016 Uber rounds were a significant drop from the previous offseason's 25.

Overall, though, Franklin said he's maintained a 4.8 Uber rating.
