MLB trade rumors: Phillies have spoken with Orioles about potential deal for Manny Machado image

The Phillies are interested in Orioles superstar Manny Machado.

Philadelphia has been in contact with the Orioles regarding a potential trade for the 25-year-old infielder, according to a report from FanRag Sports. Baltimore has asked for four young players in exchange for Machado, the report says.

Multiple teams have inquired about Machado, Baltimore general manager Dan Duquette told FanRag Sports. Duquette declined to say which teams he has spoken with, but he did say interest in Machado has increased.

“I can tell you there are more teams interested now (than the winter),” Duquette said. “If you’re interested in making an impact, this is the player.”

Machado will be a free agent following the season. He has hit .322 with 18 home runs and 50 RBIs so far in 2018.

Machado is a .282 career hitter and has been named to the All-Star team three times, most recently in 2016. He has also won two Gold Glove awards in his seven-year MLB career.

Baltimore has struggled to open 2018, registering just an 19-42 record while the Phillies currently sit at 32-28.
