Astros starting centerfielder Jake Meyers was set to play in his first game since suffering his calf injury on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Minutes before the game, Meyers was jogging to the outfield and hopped multiple times before beginning to limp and being helped off the field by a trainer.

On Sunday, Meyers' injury felt like it would just cost a few days of playing time; however, it feels like this injury may be much more serious than Meyers and the team originally thought. Meyers and the trainer walked off through the right-field corner just after Meyers went down to a knee.

The Astros continue to face the injury bug. Slugger Yordan Alvarez hasn't played since May 2, due to a hand fracture, and All-Star shortstop Jeremy Peña has been on the IL due to a hit by pitch that caused a rib fracture.

Meyers was a top 10 hitter in terms of batting average and was second in WAR among all Astros position players, entering Wednesday. Meyers has been critical to the Astros' success, especially at the plate. Meyers has helped lead multiple rallies and has been getting on base at a successful rate.

Could an IL stint be on the way for Meyers? Will the All-Star break be enough time? Can outfielder Chas McCormick rebound on his rehab assignment to help the Astros with the absence of Jake Meyers?
