St George Illawarra have back-flipped on their decision to stand down Tim Lafai and Siliva Havili, reinstating the pair on the back of pressure from the playing group.

Lafai and Havili were stood down last week for their part in a alcohol-fuelled brawl in Wollongong.

This week, players demanded that their stood down teammates be allowed to play and train.

These demands were met with the pair's punishment being overturned just 12 days after it was handed down.

Lafai and Havili will face court in September on charges of affray and offensive behaviour.

The Dragons were criticised by the Rugby League Players' Association for failing to afford the pair the presumption of innocence.

“The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced that after consultation with the NRL integrity unit and both Tim Lafai and Siliva Havili, the players have been reinstated, in respect to club activities,” said the club in a short statement.

“Both players had been stood down from all Dragons’ activities for breaching the club’s code of conduct arising from their involvement in an incident which took place on Sunday July 24.

“Both players are now available to play if selected for the Illawarra Cutters in their NSW Cup fixture against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at WIN Stadium Wollongong on Saturday.”
