Dally M: Luke Brooks is leading the count and the NRL has gone delightfully mad image

Luke Brooks is a wonderfully gifted player. So gifted, he was saddled with The Next Andrew Johns tag, after a handful of NRL games.

Luke Brooks, fairly or unfairly, is also the same bloke who was most likely the last choice of fans who were looking to secure as many of the Big Four as possible.

Luke Brooks is currently leading the Dally M count.

It’s a fact made all the impressive by Benji Marshall circa 2005 reappearing when we all thought he was confined to ’05 grand final replays.

While Benji scored a double in the Wests Tigers’ win over Manly, it was Brooks who jagged the three Dally M points, to lead the pack Six rounds of the NRL dusted.

Don't believe much-maligned social media posts about the state of the game: the NRL in 2018 is a breath of fresh air - just ask any tipster struggling to land more than four succesful tips each round.

Elsewhere, Damien Cook ran for over 90 metres out of dummy half to inspire Souths’ shock victory over the Roosters, with the tri-colours locked out of the Dally M points.

Angus Crichton and Tom Burgess claimed the remaining points.

Gareth Widdop, Kalyn Ponga and Mitchell Pearce all failed to snare any points over the weekend and now share second spot with Jack de Belin, who claimed the full three points in the Dragons demolition of the Sharks.
