Gasnier dismisses Sharks victory image

We know the Dragons-Sharks rivalry is a fierce one but does Mark Gasnier really have to continue the hate?

That’s what angry Cronulla fans were asking after Gaz played down the significance of the Shire club’s big win over the Roosters.

"They (Cronulla) still concede really easy metres," Gasnier told Fox Sports.

"Post-Origin they had a lot of line speed and really got up in your face but since that Titans game I haven’t seen that from them.

"Whether they’ve re-charged the batteries (I don’t know) but we heard Gal say there’s a little bit more confidence in the group.

"A win does a lot of things."

The Sharks sit one victory away from their first minor premiership since 1999 but Gasnier remains unconvinced of their credentials.

Asked if he thought they were back to the form that saw them win 15 games straight, Gasnier responded: "Not on that (the win over Roosters) , no. But a lot of positive steps."
