Lee: Leaving Canberra was the last thing I wanted image

New Bulldogs recruit Brenko Lee says he was ‘heartsore’ at leaving the Canberra Raiders.

The highest profile name in a raft of off-season signings at Belmore, Lee moved to the Raiders from Brisbane, playing in Canberra’s Under-20s side before making his first grade debut in 2014.

The Junior Kangaroo signed a two-year contract with the Bulldogs and will line up at centre against the Storm this Friday night.

But, he says, the decision to leave the capital was a tough one.

“I can’t lie, I was a bit heartsore leaving,” he said.

“I moved there when I was 16 from Brissy and the last thing I wanted was to leave.”
