Rory McIlroy could soon be heading Down Under.
The reigning Masters champion will reportedly play in this year's Australian Open – the nation's top golf tournament.
His participation would end an 11-year absence Down Under, with the Northern Irishman's most recent appearance at the event coming in 2024.
On 3AW's Rumour File, Ross Stevenson revealed that McIlroy, who recently completed a career grand slam, has been linked with a stunning return to the Australian Open.

It was also reported that the event will take place at the iconic Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
Ex-golf pro Mark Allen reacted to the news, describing the 36-year-old's potential participation as "huge".
"He [Stevenson] put on the Rumour File this week that Rory McIlroy will be playing in the Australian Open," Allen said on the Talk Birdie To Me podcast.
"And that Australian Open will be at Royal Melbourne.
"That's big news. That is huge news."

Royal Melbourne Golf Club comprises two courses – West and East. The former is regularly ranked the best course in Australia.
The Australian Open – which does not have any confirmed dates for this year – will be played on the famous Composite Course, which combines holes from the two aforementioned courses.
Notably, it will return to a standalone event in 2025.
The mixed format – which was introduced in 2022 – has been scrapped, with the men's and women's competitions to revert to separate tournaments.

McIlroy has previously expressed his love for Melbourne's Sandbelt courses.
Earlier this year, he noted that the Australian Open deserved to be an event that attracted bigger names.
"I think the Australian Open needs to be put up .... it was always a very big tournament in the day and that could be one that could be elevated," he said.
His participation would go a long way to seeing that come to fruition.
