The PGA Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta is the last of the four tournaments in the PGA Tour playoffs

Rory McIlroy won the Tour Championship last season, but he failed to make the top-30 cutoff this year after finishing the BMW Championship ranked at No. 58 in FedExCup points. So, who will win the 2017 Tour Championship?

There are only 30 players in the field at East Lake, so the odds are lower than they would normally be for a major golf tournament. The top five PGA Tour golfers in points heading into the Tour Championship are: Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Marc Leishman and Jon Rahm.

After the points were reset following the BMW Championship, anyone in the top five who wins the Tour Championship this weekend can win the FedExCup. The points are reset to create drama with the final playoff event, leveling the playing field by bringing golfers like Spieth, Thomas and Johnson — who are way ahead in the standings — back down with the rest of the group.

Players at the bottom of the top-30 standings would need to win the Tour Championship and have the rest of the field finish in the opposite order of what they are ranked. For example, No. 30 Jason Dufner would need to win at East Lake and have No. 1 Spieth finish last for him to win the FedExCup.

As you can see, the odds are slim for Dufner, but it still gives the rest of the field that small hope.

PGA Tour Championship odds

Jordan Spieth, No. 1 in the FedExCup standings, has the best odds to win both the Tour Championship this weekend and the 2017 FedExCup. The Tour Championship has an $8.75 million purse ($1.575 to first place); the winner of the FedExCup pockets $10 million. Here are all of the odds for this week's field courtesy of Vegas Insider.
