Australian golfer Cam Davis has taken a shock top-3 position at the 2025 PGA Championship, near the front of the pack after the first day of competition.
The Sydney-born golfer ended the day five-under par, after an impressive outing that saw him snag seven birdies and two bogeys.
He is now tied for the second spot with American Ryan Gerard, hoping to claim his first Major Championship at the iconic Quail Hollow Club.

Despite having the chance to hold a lone lead at the North Carolina event, he finished the day in a tie for with Ryan Gerard, following a late surge from Jhonattan Vegas to take the lead at seven-under.
With three days remaining, Davis still has plenty of work to do, but a first Major Championship is well within his reach.
Boasting just two PGA tour wins, a victory in this event would be a watershed moment for the 30-year-old, whose previous best was a tie for fourth in 2023.
