Record crowds have flocked to Albert Park this weekend for this year's Formula 1 season opener, with the main race now just hours away.

McLaren's Lando Norris claimed pole position on Saturday and will be joined on the front row by teammate and Australian Oscar Pastri.

Reigning champion Max Verstappen looms as a serious threat from P3, though.

The second Aussie on the grid, Jack Doohan, will start from 14th on the grid.
