With the Spanish Grand Prix just around the corner this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló, excitement is building as fans eagerly await how the race might shake up the F1 leaderboard.
In last week’s Monaco Grand Prix, hometown hero Charles Leclerc raced on the streets of Monte Carlo. As a native of Monaco, hopes were high for him to deliver a win in his home race and to carry forward his momentum from last year's Monaco GP win.
Now, all eyes turn to Spain. As the grid heads to Barcelona, the question on many fans’ minds is: Which current Formula 1 drivers are proudly representing Spain this weekend?

Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)
Fernando Alonso, 43, remains one of Formula 1’s most iconic figures. The legendary Spanish racer currently races for Aston Martin and is a two-time Formula One World Champion, claiming his titles in 2005 and 2006.
Over his 22-season career, Alonso has secured 32 Grand Prix victories, including two memorable wins at his home race, the Spanish Grand Prix in 2006 and 2013.
However, the 2025 season has been a challenging one for Alonso. In the recent Monaco Grand Prix, he was forced to retire from the race due to a power unit issue while running in sixth place. He is currently ranked 18th in the championship standings with 0 points, a tough spot for the veteran racer heading into his home Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz Jr (Williams)
Carlos Sainz Jr, 30, is a Spanish F1 racer who currently drives for Williams in the 2025 season.
Sainz is the son of legendary driver Carlos Sainz Sr, a two-time World Rally Champion. Sainz has carved out an impressive career of his own, with four Grand Prix victories across 11 seasons in Formula 1.
Sainz is currently 12th in the standings with 12 points and is eager to make a mark in front of his home crowd.
With both crowd favourites at their home Grand Prix this weekend. Will Spain witness another hometown triumph like Alonso since 2013? The answer will be reviewed on Sunday.
