Singer-songwriter Rosé of BLACKPINK is the latest celebrity to wave the famed chequered flag, gracing the F1 Miami Grand Prix where she waved the flag as Australian driver and current championship leader Oscar Piastri crossed the finish line - his third consecutive win and fourth of the campaign overall.

Her appearance comes amid growing anticipation for the upcoming Brad Pitt-led F1 film, set to premiere on June 25, 2025.

Just days before the Miami GP race, the official soundtrack lineup for F1: The Album was revealed, and Rosé is among the featured artists with an original track titled “Messy.”

But what do all the different flags in F1 mean - and which celebrities have waved them?

What each F1 flag means

The chequered flag is one of the most important and iconic symbols in Formula 1. With its distinctive black-and-white pattern, the flag signals the end of any session, whether it's practice, qualifying, or the race.

Once the winner crosses the finish line, the chequered flag is waved continuously until all competing cars complete their final lap. It not only marks the conclusion of the event but also signifies victory. The first driver to cross under the flag is officially declared the winner.
