It's been a very conflicting year for fans of Tottenham Hotspur.
On one hand, they have experienced one of their worst Premier League campaigns ever, currently in 16th and lucky to avoid relegation.
However, they also sit just one win away from the Europa League title. This would see them break a 17-year trophy drought, something that manager Ange Postecoglou says should be celebrated regardless of the rest of the season.
Postecoglou slams EPL critics after Europa League success
Tottenham will take on Manchester United in the final of the Europa League later this month – two English heavyweights doing battle for a major trophy.
But the two teams haven't exactly acted like heavyweights this season, both flirting with the relegation zone throughout the season; something that Spurs coach Postecoglou doesn't believe should impact the significance of this title match.
"Who cares if we're struggling in the league?" Postecoglou said after the game.
"Why is that important? If it's so easy to get to a final, then why doesn't everyone who finishes in the top three do it?
"It's a separate thing. It's got nothing to do with league form. We understand our league form hasn't been great. We understand the struggles we've had. A lot of them are because of the situation we've been in. But how does that diminish the achievement of getting to a final?"
"This club and others have finished in first, second or third in the Premier League and haven't made finals. Why should that be diminished? I couldn't care less who's struggling and who's not. I think both us and Manchester United have earned the right to be there."
If Tottenham are successful against the Red Devils, they will break a 17-year major title drought, extending all the way back to the 2008 League Cup.
