The 2020 Tokyo Olympics football tournament is finally here after a delay of 12 months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sixteen nations will compete for gold in the men's competition, while the women's event will feature 12 countries.

Matches will be played at seven venues in six host cities across Japan, giving regions other than Tokyo a taste of the Olympics.

Sporting News tells you everything you need to know about the Olympics football tournament.

How to watch the Olympics football tournament featuring the Olyroos and Matildas in Australia?

You can watch the matches across a variety of Seven  digital TV channels, including 7, 7TWO, and 7mate.

Seven's channels are also accessible via the 7Plus website or app, which can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play Store for use across a variety of devices.

The 7Plus app can be Chromecast from devices to televisions, while is also accessible on a variety of Smart TV's and video game consoles.

Men's Tournament

What age restrictions are there on men's squads?

Squads are usually restricted to players under the age of 23, but with the Olympics delayed by 12 months, the age has been lifted to 24.

Players born on or after January 1, 1997 are eligible for selection, while three squad members can be picked who are 24 or older.

The age restrictions are designed to ensure the Olympics tournament is unique and doesn't encroach on the World Cup.
