The 31-year-old Argentine earns AU$832,000-a-week - which dwarves the salaries of Lionel Messi (AU$456,000-a-week), Cristiano Ronaldo (AU$440,000) and Paul Pogba (AU$471,000).

In the past few months, Lavezzi lost his title as the highest paid footballer to Carlos Tevez (AU$1million-a-week), and an extraordinary statistic has emerged about his form in the Chinese Super League.

In 10 appearances for Hebei, Lavezzi has failed to score a goal, with three assists being his only contribution to his team's cause.

Not the best value for money - especially when you consider the output of Messi, Ronaldo and Pogba.
