PSG near €60M deal with the Premier League target image

PSG are closing in on a €60 million agreement with Bournemouth for Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi, as per transfer insider Matteo Moretto.

There are also reports that talks are in an advanced stage, with Zabarnyi eager to join the Ligue 1 giants. The 22-year-old center-back has already informed the Premier League side of his desire to make the move to Paris.

PSG, fresh off their first UEFA Champions League title, have been targeting defensive reinforcements, and the manager, Luis Enrique, views Zabarnyi as a key puzzle piece in rebuilding the backline for next season’s domestic and continental campaigns.

Negotiations have been underway for days, and initially, Bournemouth demanded €75 million, but both clubs are now nearing a deal worth €60 million. Reportedly, PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, even flew to England this week to accelerate discussions.

The defender, signed from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2023, has since made 78 appearances in the Premier League, winning plaudits for his maturity, positioning, and leadership.

PSG has shown urgency for the star for weeks

Les Parisiens were keen to complete the transfer before the FIFA Club World Cup deadline on Tuesday. However, the delay in Bournemouth’s approval halted their plans.

Nevertheless, the move remains on track. PSG believe Zabarnyi fits their model: young, elite-level talent with high upside.

For Bournemouth, the sale offers critical funds to reinvest, especially with Milos Kerkez linked to Liverpool and Adrian Truffert incoming.
