Australians in the Premier League 2025-26: Which players are in England's top league? image

Australia has a rich history of players competing in the English Premier League.

From the likes of Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Aaron Mooy, the nation has usually been represented well in England's top competition.

While there hasn't been as many Australians in the Premier League in recent years, there are still a couple of Aussie players in squads for the 2025-26 season.

The Sporting News has a list of Australians playing in the top division of England.

Joe Gauci (Aston Villa)

Former Adelaide United star Joe Gauci is currently one of the back-up goalkeepers for Premier League side Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old Socceroos keeper is currently behind Argentina World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez.

Gauci played twice for Villa last season, conceding three goals in two League Cup games.

He was loaned out to League One side Barnsley for the second half of the season, where he kept two clean sheets in seven matches.

At this stage, Gauci looks like remaining at Villa at the start of the season to compete for the substitute goalkeeper role with Marco Bizot.

Nectarios Triantis (Sunderland)

Despite currently being on Sunderland's books, it looks like Nectarios Triantis could be playing again the Championship next season, with West Bromwich Albion linked with a move for the 22-year-old.

A midfielder who can also play central defender, Triantis only made five appearances for the Black Cats in all competitions during his two years at the club.

However, the versatile Sydney-born player impressed on loan at Scottish side Hibernian last season, scoring three goals and snaring five assists in 29 matches.

While his future doesn't appear to be with Sunderland, a move back to the Championship or even re-joining Hibernian looks on the cards for the talented Triantis.

We might be seeing Triantis play in the Premier League in the future - it's just unlikely to be with Sunderland.
