In case you’ve been hiding under the same rock that currently houses Adelaide United’s form, football fans in Australia have a slightly strained relationship with the media.

While flares make for good headlines, not all A-League fans spend their hard-earned on emergency beacons.

In fact, 11,398 fans managed to achieve a rare feat Sunday when no-one was ejected or refused entry during the Mariners’ 3-2 loss to table-topping Sydney FC.

In the biggest crowd seen at Central Coast stadium all season, the only cause for alarm was the apparent bottled water shortage on the eastern side.

A good news story on a cracking day for Australian football.
