Newcastle United have rekindled their long-standing transfer interest in Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi ahead of the Premier League summer transfer window, almost a year after seeing four bids turned down, including a final £65m [$86m] offer.
Despite the Magpies’ aggressive push to sign him back in August 2024, Palace chairman Steve Parish stood firm and demanded 'superstar money' for the England center-back. However, the transfer landscape has shifted has now.
Palace are in a weakened negotiating position as Guehi enters the final year of his contract. Teamtalk indicate his valuation has now dropped to around £46m [$61m], significantly less than Newcastle's rejected bid last summer.
Guehi, 24, continues to impress at Selhurst Park, and his commanding performances at Euro 2024 showcased his progress on the biggest stage, as he started all but one of England's matches in their run to the final.

Eddie Howe views the former Chelsea defender as the perfect partner for Sven Botman, who returned from a long-term knee injury at the start of 2025.
Competition for Guehi's signature remains fierce, with Tottenham and potential Champions League qualifiers Nottingham Forest also monitoring the situation.

What does Marc Guehi say about his future?
Guehi has remained tight-lipped about his next move, despite the persistent speculation ahead of the summer window.
"If I had a magic wand to sort everything out in an instant I would, but I don’t. You can’t control any exterior noise. I just focus on my football and giving my best.” he said, when he was asked about his future last month.

"I want to play as long as possible… I’ve stopped trying to figure out where I end up… Everyone has their own journey."
Guehi will captain Palace in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 17 as they aim to win the trophy for the first time in their history.
