With victory over Fulham on May 25, Manchester City finished third in the Premier League this season.
Considering their successes over the past seasons, Man City's run this term has been underwhelming. An injury-hit season saw Pep Guardiola's side miss out on silverware and only manage Champions League qualification for next year.
However, Guardiola's side is expected to turn things around in the upcoming season, with several changes anticipated over the summer. Several reports have suggested Man City will make additions to their squad, which could also mean the departure of some familiar faces at the Etihad.
One such name that has lately been rumored with a move away from Man City is Ilkay Gundogan, and now the midfielder has shared his take on his future at Etihad.
What did Ilkay Gundogan say about his future at Man City?
Gundogan first arrived at Man City from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and continued till 2023, followed by a move to Barcelona. After his one-season stint at the Catalan club, the German star returned to Guardiola's squad last year.
He started his second stint at Etihad with a one-season contract, with the option of an additional 12 months based on appearances and minutes played. As he met the clauses of the deal, Gundogan signed an extension last month which keeps him at the club until the summer of 2026.

Despite his new contract, doubts over his future at Man City still prevail. When asked about his future at the club, Gundogan appeared confident (comments via ESPN) and had a positive outlook on it.
"Nobody has said anything [different] to me so far! Yeah, my contract got extended another year so obviously that's what I expect right now," said Gundogan.
Along with Guardiola confirming that new additions to the squad will take place over the summer transfer window, Man City have also been heavily linked with AC Milan's Tijjani Reijnders and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White to strengthen their midfield.
It remains to be seen if Gundogan continues to be a part of Guardiola's squad next season.
