Chelsea are not backing down from securing their targets this summer, as Enzo Maresca has been busy making improvements to his squad.

The London club has been hit by multiple defensive injuries recently, but they are still pursuing attacking options in the market.

Maresca is hoping to bring in Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho, and a swap deal could be in the works to secure one of these targets.

What is the swap deal Chelsea are considering?

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are weighing up a swap deal to send Christopher Nkunku to RB Leipzig to secure Xavi Simons.

Leipzig see Nkunku as a potential replacement for Benjamin Sesko, who they just lost to Manchester United.

Chelsea are keen on Simons for their attack, and it could be easier to secure the Dutch attacker with Nkunku as part of the deal.

Nkunku previously played for Leipzig, but since moving to Chelsea in 2023, he has failed to secure a starting spot.

Chelsea will still likely have to pay a hefty fee for Simons, but offloading Nkunku will help Chelsea's finances and could bring down Simons' fee.

Chelsea are also still hoping to sell Nicolas Jackson, which will also help to free up space for Maresca's side.
