One day after scoring a try on his NRL debut in place of injured Origin star Jack Bird, Cronulla’s Jesse Ramien has been named in the centres for the NYC team of the year, alongside the Titans’ Phillip Sami.

Ramien is joined by fellow Sharks Sione Katoa, Kyle Flanagan, Briton Nikora, Billy Magoulias and Blayke Brailey in the team, with 300-game veteran John Morris, responsible for the team which finished seven points clear at the top of the NYC, as the coach.

Flanagan, who also earned an Origin jersey this year, also broke former Tiger Jake Mullaney's points-scoring record with two rounds to play.

Newcastle-bound Kalyn Ponga has also snagged a spot in the team, named as the fullback.

The NYC Player of the Year will be named at the Dally M awards on the 27th of September.

In 2016 the winner was Jayden Brailey, a front runner for the NRL Rookie of the Year before he suffered a jaw injury.

Since the inception of the NYC In 2008, every Player of the Year winner has gone on to play in the NRL.
