Brisbane have been on the verge of signing the five-eighth for weeks now and he was meant sign a massive $2.7 million three-year deal with the club - the richest deal ever offered to a Broncos player.

An inquiry from the Storm have put things on hold and Milford might want to demand a pay rise after watching Jack Bird ink a reported $1 million deal.

The Australian's Brent Read shared the news on Twitter.

The Storm are still looking for a replacement for Cooper Cronk and withdrew their interest for Warriors star Kieran after lengthy in-house discussions.

Brisbane have reportedly made a big-money offer to Titans sensation Ashley Taylor who left the club in 2016 with Ben Hunt establishing himself as the Broncos' number seven.
