Tim David has belted Australia's fastest-ever T20 hundred and half-century as the green-and-gold defeated the West Indies by six wickets at Warner Park in the Caribbean.

The big-hitting batter smashed his 50 off only 16 balls but bringing up his ton off 37 balls, finishing on 102 as Australia successfully chased down the Windies score of 214 with 3.5 overs to spare.

David's innings included 11 sixes and four fours, with the victory and his century brought up with a boundary off Romario Shepherd.

Australia appeared to be in early trouble at 4/87 when Cameron Green was dismissed for 11, but David was ably supported by Mitchell Owen, who scored 36 runs off 16 balls.

“It was just (about) having a great time out in the middle playing for the Australian team and every opportunity we get to play out here, we want to make the most of it,” David said.

“I didn’t think I would have an opportunity to score one hundred for Australia, so I am so glad for the opportunity and just stoked.

“The pitch was good and obviously there was a strong breeze, so you have to back your strengths. I am obviously at my best when I am attacking.”

Earlier, Shai Hope scored a century to give the Windies hope of snaring their first win of the series, but instead the home side lost their third consecutive match to be down 3-0 in the five-match series.
