Ashes 2019: Australia and England share beers after dramatic drawn series image

They laid it all on the line for five thrilling Test matches - but Ashes rivals Australia and England were quick to share a beer after the final game of the series at The Oval.

England won the fifth Test in convincing fashion on the back of a six wicket haul from Jofra Archer and a classy second innings dig from Joe Denly - but the visitors retained the urn in the drawn five-match series.

But after a dramatic and gruelling match and series, both sides were quick to put that aside and share some beverages after the game in the dressing rooms.

Head of Communications for the ECB Danny Reuben captured the image and summed it up beautifully in a Tweet.

"This is what it’s all about," he said.

"The cut and thrust of Ashes cricket. Let’s just have a beer and reminisce.

"Why cricket is the best!"

As you can see in the image, the players are all mingling with one another - a pretty common occurrence at all levels of cricket once play finishes.

David Warner can be seen having a chat with Jonny Bairstow and Jack Leach, Pat Cummins with Chris Woakes and 'Player of the Series' Steve Smith sharing a drink with Sam Curran.

It would be interesting to see if David Warner and Joe Root were as friendly after their infamous incident back in 2013 - or whether Smith and Jofra Archer had a chat after their encounters during the series.
